Born to a working-class family in Scotland, Michelle Mone has gone on to become one of the UK’s most prominent entrepreneurs. The former model’s career took off when, after struggling with conventional push-up bras, Mone decided to develop her own range, with the help of her then husband. Together, they created the Ultimo range, which was launched at Selfridges and has experienced enormous success. In recent years, Mone reduced her stake in the company, and ceased her directorship earlier this year after she was made a life peer at the House of Lords. She recently established fake tan company UTan, which will look to emulate Ultimo’s record of market-disrupting success.
