Currently offering over 400 free courses to eager-to-learn students around the world, Coursera is making a name for itself in the world of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs). Since being founded at Stanford University in April 2012 by Professors of Computer Science Andrew Ng and Daphne Koller, Coursera has achieved close to $65m in funding. The purpose of the platform is to offer courses to people who have access to the internet but cannot afford university tuition fees. With healthy financial resources and several courses now accredited by the American Council on Education (ACE), the venture is miles ahead of its MOOC competitors.
