Zurich Insurance Group is a global insurance company headquartered in Switzerland. Founded in 1872, Zurich now employs 60,000 people throughout 170 countries, with revenues of nearly $53bn last year. Although insurers have faced global economic uncertainty and unusual numbers of global disasters in recent years, Zurich has weathered the storm; announcing rises in profit in early 2012. Focusing on three core business segments, its General Insurance division caters to individuals and small-to-medium size businesses, while the Global Life department offers financial services to developing markets, and the Farmer’s segment provides non-claims-related management services to the farmer’s exchange.
