Since its inception in Shenzhen in 1988, Ping An Insurance has developed from a life insurance provider to a financial services and insurance powerhouse. Ping An has recently become the first Chinese insurer to have introduced foreign investors into its shareholding structure, following a change in Chinese regulation. The involvement of foreign fund managers in Ping An’s operations will help the company increase its equity, currently only 9.4 percent of its portfolio. The company is committed to reducing its carbon footprint via the ‘Low-Carbon 100 Campaign’, a pioneering project in which Ping An decreased its paper usage by 511.7 tonnes.
