Energy behemoth GDF Suez became the globe’s largest utility when Gaz de France merged with Suez in 2008. Employing 218,350 staff internationally, it predominantly generates electricity through numerous international plants including thermal, wind farms, biomass, and hydroelectric. GDF Suez operates in natural gas, renewable energy, and electricity generation and distribution, and provides a diversified energy mix that focuses on responsible growth through development of new production capacities. The group reasserted this year its position as the globe’s foremost non-nuclear power producer through long-term strategic partnerships, including a cooperation agreement with CIC and a large-scale contract with Malaysian Petronas LNG.
