Established in 1991, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (often referred to as HKUST) was ranked the best university in Asia in 2011 by a QS Asian University Rankings department. Professor Tony F Chan serves as the president of HKUST, and the school is home to 9,000 students and over 450 faculty. Boasting the most extensive student exchange network in Asia, the university collaborates with over 100 partner schools worldwide in territories including Canada, America, Australia and Europe. In terms of its facilities, its university library owns a selection of old maps of China and the rest of Asia, some of which date back 500 years.
