Through it’s subsidiaries, Fairfax has established a name as a leading entity throughout the insurance industry in many nations. Dealing primarily in property and casualty insurance, reinsurance, and investment management, the firm has experienced and recognised experts working right across the market. Over the last eighteen months, Fairfax has purchased shares in Ridley, Polskie Towarzystwo Reasekuracji Spolka Akcyjna, Advent Capital Holdings and Odyssey Re Holdings to further expand operations. While doing so, the firm also moved into different geographical markets and continued to prosper abroad. Of particular note is the current CEO, Vivan Watsa, who has been in chair since 1985.
