Anglo-Swiss company Glencore has become one of the largest family businesses in the world, thanks to its excellent capabilities as an exporter of various commodities. The trading and mining organisation has greatly enhanced its operations since it merged with industry heavyweight Xstrava in 2013, adding a wealth of experience and knowledge to its board. Glencore operates in 50 countries and employs a workforce of 160,000, and its customer base is extremely diverse, including those in the automotive, constructive, steel and power generation industries. It currently stands as the third-largest family business globally, with revenue of $170.5bn in 2015.
